Clay Palmer’s Nesting Box Bump was chosen by juror Coulter Fussell to be included in the University of Mississippi’s 2024 National Juried Exhibition entitled Common Threads. The exhibition was on view from April 8th through 26th, 2024, in the Department of Art and Art History’s Gallery 130 on the University of Mississippi’s campus in Oxford.
"Retronymic Slip" included in Masur Museum's 61st Annual National Juried Exhibition
Retronymic Slip has been chosen by juror Kerry Inman, Owner and Director of Inman Gallery in Houston, TX, to be included in the 61st Annual National Juried Exhibition at the Masur Museum of Art in Monroe, LA. The exhibition will be on display from February 22nd through May 4th, 2024.
"Have a Seat" Solo Exhibition Opens at the Batesville Area Art Council's Gallery on Main
Clay’s solo exhibition entitled Have a Seat will be on view at the Batesville Area Arts Council’s Gallery on Main from August 15th through September 30th. A closing reception and artist talk will be held on Friday, September 29th, from 5 to 7 PM with a Member’s Only Happy Hour from 4 to 5 PM.
Gallery Hours are Tuesday through Friday from 10 AM to 4 PM and Saturday from 10 AM to 2 PM.
More Than a Hobby: The 2022 UTM Visual and Theatre Arts Faculty Exhibition
Clay’s work will be included in this year’s faculty exhibition More Than a Hobby at the University of Tennessee at Martin. Artists featured include Dr. Carol Eckert and Grace Eckert, Sarah Haig, Lane Last, Clay Palmer, Jason Stout, Dr. M. Sylvia Weintraub, Michelle Williams, and Jason Woolery.
The Art of Science 2022
Clay will have a painting entitled “Hearts in the Right and Wrong Places” included in this year’s Art of Science exhibition. This 7th biennial exhibition is presented by Crosstown Arts and Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in collaboration with the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. Over thirty local artists will present a piece of art inspired by the work of area researchers and clinicians, which will also be on display alongside the works of art. The opening reception will take place Saturday, June 4th from 5 to 8 PM at Crosstown Arts in Memphis, Tennessee.
2022 Dogwood Arts Regional Art Exhibition
Clay Palmer’s drawing entitled “This Cold and Funerary Tub” was chosen by juror Denise Stewart-Sanabria to be a part of this year’s Dogwood Regional Exhibition at The Emporium Center in Knoxville, Tennessee. This year’s exhibition includes 45 artists from across the region. The opening reception will be held on Friday, June 3rd, from 4 to 8 PM CDT. The exhibition will run from June 3rd through the 25th.
“The Oyster Eaters” wins awards at 10th Annual BAAC National Juried Exhibition
“The Oyster Eaters” received both 1st Place and Purchase Prize at this year’s BAAAC National Juried Exhibition in Batesville, Arkansas. As a part of the 1st Place prize, Clay will be receiving a solo show next year at the Batesville Area Arts Council Gallery. Further information regarding dates will be released in the future.

Clay Palmer’s oil on canvas painting The Oyster Eaters has been chosen by juror Kimi Kitada to be a part of the Batesville Area Arts Council’s 10th Annual National Juried Exhibition. The exhibition will be be open from April 26-June 18 in Batesville, Arkansas, with an Awards Reception taking place on Friday, May 7th, 2022 from 5 to 7 PM.
34th Annual Valdosta National Exhibition
Clay Palmer’s oil painting You’re No Fly on the Wall was chosen by juror Samuel Dunson to be included in the 2022 Valdosta National Art Exhibition. This exhibition is held annually at the Dedo Maranville Fine Arts Gallery at Valdosta State University in Valdosta, GA. The work will be on view from January 21st to February 7th, 2022. You’re No Fly on the Wall is one of 57 out of the 401 individual entries to be selected.
13th Annual International Drawing Discourse Exhibition
Clay Palmer’s ink drawing Dead Gratitude in the Hearts of Sailors has been selected by juror Catherine Murphy for the 13th Annual International Drawing Discourse Exhibition. The exhibition will be held at the University of North Carolina - Asheville’s S. Tucker Cooke Gallery from January 14th to February 11th, 2022. Out of the 1,220 entries submitted by 397 artists from 8 different countries, only 82 pieces were chosen for the exhibition.
"Relative Tragedy..." to be included in the 2021 FL3TCH3R Exhibit
Palmer’s ink drawing Relative Tragedy (We Have to Order Take-Out Again?!” has been selected by juror Michael Ray Charles for the 2021 FL3TCH3R Exhibit. The FL3TCH3R is an annual international juried exhibit held at East Tennessee State University’s Reece Museum that focuses on socially and politically engaged art. The juror, Michael Ray Charles, is a contemporary American painter and has been the Hugh Roy and Lillie Cranz Cullen Distinguished Professor of Painting at the University of Houston’s School of Art since 2014. More information on the reception and awards ceremony will be released in the near future.
